How to choose an Uber and Bolt fleet partner
What to check before you sign
Uber and Bolt drivers in Poland usually work through a fleet partner: a company that holds the transport licence, registers the car and settles your earnings. The partner you choose shapes your weekly payout, your schedule and how quickly problems get solved. Here is what to check before you sign, especially if you are new to Poland.
Why drivers in Poland work through a fleet partner
Since the Lex Uber reform came into force on 1 January 2020, paid passenger transport by car in Poland requires a licence held by a carrier (in Polish: przewoźnik), and the apps may only pass trips to licensed carriers. You can get your own licence by registering a business, or you can drive with a partner that already holds one. For many newcomers the second route is simpler: no business registration, no licence application at the city office and no vehicle formalities.
A fleet partner is therefore more than a middleman. It is the carrier responsible for the licence, the vehicle extract (wypis, a copy of the licence issued for each car) and your settlement. Read more in our guide to Lex Uber and the legal rules.
Before you compare offers, write down three things:
- Car: do you need a fleet car, or do you want to drive your own?
- Time: full time, a few days a week or only weekends?
- City: where you will drive, because licences and offices are local.
An offer that suits a full-time driver in a fleet car may be wrong for someone who drives their own car part time. A good partner offers more than one model and explains the difference clearly.
Check the paperwork and who is responsible
Ask the partner directly:
- Who is the carrier, and which area does its licence cover? A taxi licence is issued for a specific municipality (gmina).
- Who arranges the vehicle extract and reports the car to the city authority?
- Who keeps track of expiry dates, for example of your medical and psychological certificates?
- Will you have your own Uber and Bolt driver account in your own name?
The last point matters most. The platforms must verify every driver in person and regularly check that the person driving is the one who was given the trip. Never agree to drive on someone else's account. To understand the documents, see taxi licensing in Poland.
Compare the settlement on the same basis
Partners describe their terms in different ways: a percentage, a fixed weekly fee, car rental or a mix of these. To compare fairly, ask each partner to calculate your payout from the same weekly turnover and the same number of driving hours.
- What does the percentage or fee include, and what is charged separately?
- How are fuel, taxes and social security contributions (ZUS) handled?
- How are corrections, bonuses and tips settled?
- When and how often is the payout made?
Ask for a written example. If a partner cannot explain its own calculation, treat that as a warning sign.
Read the rules for using the car
If you drive a fleet car, check the schedule, the handover and return of the car, the fuel policy, servicing, insurance and how to report damage. Responsibility for damage should be written in the agreement, not only in an advert. At DEPartner, ask about Protektor, our vehicle damage protection, and how it works with your cooperation model.
If you bring your own car, ask which documents it needs, who prepares them and how long it takes before your first trip.
Language, contact and reviews
For a foreigner in Poland, easy contact with the partner matters as much as the numbers. Check which languages the office speaks, where it is and when it is open. Read recent reviews and look at how the company answers complaints.
DEPartner at a glance: 14 offices across Poland, a fleet of 500+ cars and a rating of 4.9/5 in Google from over 3,000 reviews. Every office serves drivers in Polish and English. Offices and coordinators work Monday to Friday, 8:00-16:00, and the call centre 8:00-17:00.
We also reimburse the cost of the medical and psychological examinations when you present an invoice issued to the company (DEPartner).
Questions to ask before you sign
- What is the basis of the settlement, and which costs do I cover?
- Who pays for fuel and for the car?
- Which schedules are available in my city?
- How do I report damage or a mistake in my payout?
- How can the cooperation be ended?
Get clear answers to all of them before you decide. A reliable partner will answer without hesitation.
